Box Score ST. AUGUSTINE – The No. 16 (ITA Division II) Flagler College women's tennis team extended its winning streak to 10 matches in a row with a 4-3 defeat of NCAA Division I member Appalachian State University Wednesday afternoon at the Flagler Tennis Center.

Flagler improved its overall record to 10-1 while Appalachian State fell to 4-7. Appalachian State is coached by former Flagler tennis player Colin Crothers. Crothers was inducted into the Flagler Athletics Hall of Fame, Class of 2014.

Playing by Division I rules where doubles only count as one point, the Saints swept all three doubles matches to earn that first point. Both Flagler tandems, Mary Jo Nanti/Kelly Burge and Laura Kelly/Kelly Stewart, extended their win streaks to 10 matches.

Lizanne Jinkertz' straight sets win over Melissa Machado (6-4 and 6-4) clinched the match for the Saints. Burge and Kelly also posted wins in singles play.  

Flagler returns to Peach Belt Conference play this weekend with a road trip starting on Saturday (March 12) at the University of Montevallo at 11 a.m. Central.
