Box Score ST. AUGUSTINE – Georgia Regents University Augusta pounded out 17 hits, 14 of which were singles, and defeated Flagler College to complete the series sweep 7-2 in a Peach Belt Conference baseball game Sunday afternoon at Drysdale Field. GRU Augusta, earlier in the day, won the conclusion of yesterday's suspended game, 4-2.

GRU Augusta improved to 16-22 overall and 8-13 in the Peach Belt. Flagler fell to 18-20 overall and 9-16 in conference play.

In the completion of the suspended game, Flagler had the bases loaded with nobody out in the bottom of the seventh inning trailing 4-1. The Saints were able to score one run on a ground out, but that was all. Flagler stranded 12 runners on base for the game.
 
In the bottom of the ninth, the Saints had two base runners on with no one out. But the next three batters were retired in order.

Tyler Brown (4-1) tossed 5.2 innings, scattered four hits, allowed one run, walked four and struck out three to earn the win. Tristen Jones pitched the last three innings, allowed three hits and fanned two without giving up a run to earn his third save of the season.

The Jaguars led 2-1 after five innings and got a two-run home run by Jeff Rice in the seventh to provide some insurance. The game was suspended die to rain in the bottom of the seventh with Flagler having loaded the bases.

Connor Gilbert and Zach Murray each singled twice.

Jake Brandenberger (5-2) tossed 6.2 innings, allowed eight hits, four runs, walked two and struck out five in taking the loss.

Joe Post collected three singles and scored a run. Andrew Brodbeck singled twice.

In Sunday's regularly scheduled game, Frank Warren (4-4) induced nine fly outs and seven ground outs as he picked up the win after tossing 5.2 innings. He scattered six hits, allowed two runs, walked two and struck out one batter.

David Bermudez tossed 2.1 scoreless and hitless innings in relief. He struck out two. Clint Echols closed out the ninth with three strikeouts.

The Jaguars broke open a 1-all tie with a three-run fifth inning. Tyler Roberts and JD Sabo hit back-to-back singles. Rice hit a two-run double, and then took third on the throw to the plate. He scored on Hunter Boose's, the next batter, single.

Flagler got one back in the sixth on Lorenzo Butler's solo home run, but the Jaguars plated three more in seventh.

Rice went 5-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored and three runs batted in, before having to leave the game with an injury. Sabo collected three singles and scored two runs.

Kyle Bird (1-4) tossed 6.1 innings, surrendered 14 hits, seven runs and he struck out two batters.

Butler went 2-for-3 with the home run. Skylar Fox singled, doubled and drove in a run.

Flagler will play host to top-ranked University of Tampa on Wednesday (April 9) at 6 p.m. at Drysdale Field.
