Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ST. AUGUSTINE – No. 4 (NFCA Diviison II Top 25) Armstrong Atlantic State University swept a Peach Belt Conference softball twinight doubleheader from Flagler College on Wednesday at Flagler Field. Armstrong won the opener 3-1 and took game two, 4-0.

Armstrong extended its winning streak to eight games and improved to 17-5 overall and 2-0 in the Peach Belt. Flagler dropped to 12-18 and is 0-2 in conference play.

In the opener, the Pirates used the long ball to defeat the Saints. A two-run shot by Hannah Reppert in the second inning and a solo home run by Layce Walker was all the offense Ollivia McLemore (12-2) needed. She went the distance, scattered three hits, allowed one run, walked two and struck out five. McLemore retired the first 11 batters she faced.

The Saints got a pair of doubles, one from Lauren Bessent and the other from Christen Moon, to produce their only run in the sixth. Moon broke up McLemore's no-hitter with a two-out single in the fourth.

Kalyn Loverich (6-7) pitched well, as she allowed only four hits and three runs to the top offensive team in the league. She walked one batter and struck out four.

Moon went 2-for-3 with the lone run batted in.

In game two, Armstrong scored all of the runs it needed in the first inning. Walker hit a two-run single while Andrea Dalton also added a two-run single, but was thrown out at second trying to advance.

Jane Trzaska (3-1) was called on early to relieve Walker who walked the first two batters. Trzaska tossed a three-hit shutout and struck out three batters. She induced 10 ground outs and seven fly outs. She retired 19 of the last 21 batters she faced.

Walker collected three singles, drove in two runs and scored another. Peyton Roth singled twice and scored a run.

Tinsley Smith (2-6) went the distance and surrendered nine hits and four runs. She walked one and struck out three.

Maddy Murphy hit a double for the Saints.

Flagler hosts Lander University on Saturday (March 15) at 1 p.m. in another PBC doubleheader.
