Box Score 2 CLEARWATER, Fla. –
Christen Moon's two-run single helped Flagler College rally past No. 24 (NFCA Division II Top 25) Barry University 6-3 and
Tori Volz' two-run single helped propel Flagler past Florida Southern College 5-2 at the Eckerd Spring Invitational Sunday at the Eddie Moore Complex.
Flagler evened its record at 6-6. Barry fell to 4-2 while Florida Southern dropped to 1-3.
In the opener, the Saints grabbed a quick 2-0 lead when
Mackenzie Conley belted her fifth home run of the season, a two-run shot, in the bottom of the first inning.
The Buccaneers were able to tie the game in the fifth on an illegal pitch and a passed ball. They took the lead in the same inning on an RBI-single by Julie Brito.
Undaunted, Flagler answered in the home half of the fifth.
Molly Whittington and
Lauren Bessent hit back-to-back one-out singles. After both runners stole a base, Moon's single plated both runs.
Cristina Caravano added an RBI-single in the sixth for insurance and the Saints tacked on another run on a fielder's choice.
Tinsley Smith (1-0) earned the win in relief after tossing 2.1 scoreless innings. She allowed only one hit, walked two and fanned two.
Katelynn Smith started and went 4.2 innings. She allowed four hits, two earned runs, walked two and struck out four.
Taylor Sabol (0-2) took the loss in the circle for Buccaneers. She tossed 4.1 innings, scattered three hits and allowed four runs.
Kayla Ogle collected two singles and scored a run for Barry.

In the second game,
Kalyn Loverich (3-3) tossed a complete game six-hitter and induced 11 fly outs and eight ground outs to lead the Saints to the win over the Moccasins.
Loverich got all of the offense she needed in the second inning when Caravano drew a bases loaded walk and later in the inning, Volz socked a two-run single to center to give Flagler a 3-0 lead.
Maddy Murphy added an RBI-single in the third and added another in the fifth.
Volz had two base hits for the Saints.
Brandi Jones (1-2) took the loss for Florida Southern. She tossed two innings, scattered four hits and allowed four runs.
Allasyn Lieneck collected a pair of singles for the Mocs.
Flagler has its home opener on Saturday (Feb. 15) against Florida Tech at 1 p.m.
