AUGUSTA, Ga. – Flagler College's
David Espinosa and
Lennart Wemcken were selected to the Peach Belt Conference's All-Academic Team as honorable mention, in a release by conference officials Thursday afternoon.
To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team's events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution. The Peach Belt Conference Sports Information Directors oversee and select the teams.
Espinosa, a sophomore business major, holds a 3.5 cumulative grade point average. He posted a 5-11 overall record in singles play and went 4-6 against conference opposition. Espinosa went 2-7 at No. 5 singles and 2-4 at No. 6 singles. He played with four different doubles partners, but went 4-3 when paired with
Jose Martinez at No. 1 doubles. Last year, Espinosa was a PBC President's Honor Roll Silver Scholar last year.
Wemcken, a sophomore business administration/psychology major, boasted a 3.885 cume GPA. He went 1-2 in singles play, all coming at No. 6. Wemcken was a PBC President's Honor Roll Gold Scholar last year.
The Flagler men's tennis team finished the year with a 4-14 overall record and a 2-8 mark in the Peach Belt.
