Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ST. AUGUSTINE – Flagler College swept a Peach Belt Conference softball doubleheader from Francis Marion University, 2-1 in a 9-inning first game and 8-3 in the second game, Sunday afternoon at Flagler Field.

Flagler extended its winning streak to five games and improved to 29-15 overall and 10-8 in the Peach Belt. Francis Marion fell to 24-24 overall and 8-12 in conference play.

In the opener, Christen Moon hit a walk-off double in the bottom of the ninth inning to score Whitney Little from second base with the winning run. Little led off the frame by reaching first on a dribbler up the third base line that she beat out. After stealing second, Little scored on Moon's hit.

Malloree Escue got the Saints on the board first on her RBI-single in the fifth.

Tristan Faile led off the top of the sixth with a solo home run to tie the game and eventually force extra innings.

Kalyn Loverich (13-6) won the pitcher's duel as she scattered five hits, allowed one run, walked three and struck out six batters. She retired nine of the first 10 batters she faced.

Moon singled, doubled, scored a run and had a run batted in.

Taylor Luff (13-13) was the hard-luck loser in the game. She went the distance and scattered seven hits, allowed two runs, walked eight and struck out eight.

Other than Faile's home run, Francis Marion had four different hitters hit singles.

Flagler stranded 13 runners while Francis Marion left eight on base.

Little also her own Flagler single-game record with three stolen bases. She broke the record in the second game of the season opening doubleheader vs. Embry-Riddle (Feb. 2, 2013).

In the second game, the Saints jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead after scoring solo runs in each of the first three innings. The breakout inning was the fifth where Flagler sent 10 batters to the plate and scored five runs on four hits.  

Moon led off the fifth with a double to right-center and then scored on Melanie Oliver's single to right. Tori Jolley and Little each added a two-run single in the inning.

Katie Enright (12-6) took care of the rest for the Saints. She tossed a complete game, scattered seven hits and allowed two earned runs.

Oliver went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored. Little singled twice and stole two bases. Moon singled, doubled and scored two runs.

Danielle Payne (6-10) pitched 4 1/3 innings, surrendered eight hits, six earned runs, walked three and struck out five for the Patriots.

Faile collected three singles and drove in a run for Francis Marion. Olivia Ferguson singled twice, scored a run and drove in another.

Flagler hosts Augusta State University in a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader on Tuesday (April 9) at 5 p.m. It will be the final regular season home date for the Saints and Flagler will honor its three seniors prior to the doubleheader.
