Box Score SAVANNAH, Ga. – Flagler College's struggles with Armstrong Atlantic State University continued on Sunday as it lost for the ninth time in row, 3-2, in a Peach Belt Conference series finale at Pirate Field.

Armstrong improved to 22-9 overall and 13-7 in the Peach Belt. Flagler fell to 15-21 overall and 7-17 in conference play.

The Pirates plated two runs in the second to give them a 3-0 lead and that would be just enough to hold off a late surge by the Saints. Clayton Miller drove in Casey Maloney with a base hit to give the Pirates a 2-0 lead. Miller would eventually score on a single by Chris Zittrouer.

That would be enough for Tyler Green (1-0) who came on in the second inning in relief of starter Caleb Woods. Green hurled 7 1/3 innings, scattered seven hits and allowed two runs. Going into the top of the eighth inning, Green had retired nine of 11 Flagler batters. He induced 12 fly outs and six ground outs. Chase Butler retired the final two batters to earn his fifth save.

Zittrouer singled, doubled and drove in two runs for Armstrong. Miller singled twice, scored a run and knocked in another.

Nick Kranick belted a solo home run to lead off the eighth inning while Andrew Brodbeck drove in Jay Laurienzo in the ninth with a single as the Saints closed to within a run, 3-2. Mitch Okey grounded into a double play to end the game.

Jake Brandenberger (6-2) tossed four innings, allowed five hits, three runs, walked four and struck out four. Justin Ratte pitched a scoreless four innings in relief of Brandenberger.

Laurienzo singled twice and scored a run for the Saints.

Flagler hosts Florida Tech on Tuesday (April 9) at 6 p.m. at Drysdale Field. It will be Flagler's first home game since March 26 against Rollins College, which was an 11-5 win for the Saints.
