Box Score JACKSONVILLE –
Jake Hanson belted a three-run home run and seven pitchers combined on a seven-hit shutout as Flagler College rolled to a 9-0 win over Edward Waters College in a non-conference baseball game at Bragan Field at the Baseball Grounds at Jacksonville Wednesday evening.
Flagler won its second game in as many days against Edward Waters and improved to 19-22. Edward Waters wrapped up its regular season with a 29-24 record.
The Saints wasted little time in getting on the board. Hanson led off the game with a base hit, and scored when
Joe Post's attempted sacrifice bunt led to a three-base throwing error by the Tigers' third baseman. Two batters later,
Jay Laurienzo grounded to second and Post scored to give Flagler a 2-0 lead.
Edward Waters had runners at second and third with one out in the bottom of the first, but failed to score any runs.
The Saints added single runs in the second, fifth and sixth innings before blowing the top off the game with a three-run seventh, all coming off the bat of Hanson.
Jake Wiesler (1-0), making his first appearance of the season for Flagler, started and tossed three innings, allowed one hit, walked one and struck out one to earn the win in a predetermined split. Six other Flagler pitchers worked an inning.
Hanson went 2-for-5 with the home run, three runs batted in and two runs scored. Post singled twice and scored two runs while
Matt Morningstar singled twice, scored twice and he knocked in two runs.
Jonathan Holbeck (4-3) tossed 5 1/3 innings, surrendered six hits and three earned runs and he walked two and struck out five.
Seven different Edward Waters players hit singles.
Flagler plays host to Florida Memorial University on Friday (April 26) at 7 p.m. at Drysdale Field.
