Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 AIKEN, S.C. – No. 6 (Collegiate Baseball/Division II poll) USC Aiken swept a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader from Flagler College 5-3 and 11-7 Saturday afternoon at Roberto Hernandez Stadium.

USC Aiken improved to 13-2 overall and 5-1 in the Peach Belt. The Pacers have won 10 of their last 11 games. Flagler drops to 9-10 overall and 2-7 in conference play.

In the opener, Bill Gerstenslager's RBI-single in the bottom of the fifth inning proved to be the game-winning hit as it gave the Pacers a 4-3 lead. His hit plated Branden Millhose who led off the inning by drawing a walk.

Josh Miller hit an RBI-single in the bottom of the sixth, scoring Sean Miller who had hit a two-out double just two batters prior.

Derek Beasley (4-0) was the first of four different pitchers used. He tossed 5 2/3 innings, scattered eight hits, allowed two earned runs, walked two and fanned three. Taylor Grover tossed the ninth and struck out one of the three batters he faced to earn his fourth save of the season.

Gerstenslager, Ryan Metzler and Sean Miller each collected two hits. Gerstenslager and Miller each doubled once.

Danny Brown (1-2) tossed seven innings and surrendered 10 hits, four earned runs, walked three and struck out five.

Brett Moreland collected three singles and drove in a run. Tyler Vanover singled, tripled and scored a run.

In the nightcap, the Pacers jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, but the Saints struck for three in the fifth to pull to within a run and then took a 6-4 lead after scoring three in the seventh.

USC Aiken answered in the home half of the seventh with four runs of its own to take an 8-6 lead. USCA added three more runs in the bottom half of the eighth.

With runners at first and second and two out in the top of the seventh, Flagler's Joe Post greeted reliever Ben Black with a single to center that scored Mitch Okey to tie the game. Two batters later, Vanover hit a single with the bases load to knock in a run and the Saints grabbed a 5-4 lead. Nick Kranick followed with a bases loaded walk and Flagler took a 6-4 lead.

In the bottom of seventh, a two-run single by Bryce Baur tied the game and later Ty Barkell belted a two-run home run to give the Pacers the lead back, 8-6.

Chace Mitchell hit an RBI-double in the eighth and the Saints trailed by a run, but Baur hit a two-run double in the bottom of the eighth to put the game away/

Caleb Smith (1-1), the fourth of six pitchers used by the Pacers, picked up the win after throwing one-third of an inning, allowing one hit, one run, walking three and striking out a batters.

Barkell went 4-for-5 with the home run and five runs batted in for USC Aiken.

Jake Brandenberger (4-1) tossed six innings, allowed 11 hits, seven runs, walked two and fanned two.

Okey collected three singles and scored a run. Mitchell doubled twice, drove in two runs and scored another.

Flagler heads to the University of Montevallo next weekend (Mar. 9-10) for a three-game Peach Belt Conference series.
