Box Score 2 SAINT LEO – Flagler College and Saint Leo University split a non-conference softball doubleheader on Thursday at University Stadium. Flagler rallied to score three runs in the top of the seventh to win 4-3 in the opener, and Saint Leo got a game-ending RBI-double to earn the split with a 2-1 win.
Flagler is now 19-9 on the season while Saint Leo is 21-11.
In the opener, trailing 3-1 going into the top of the seventh,
Tori Jolley led off the inning with a double and then moved to third on
Molly Whittington's single.
Lauren Roudabush continued the hit parade as she singled through the right side of the infield to score Jolley. That knocked Saint Leo starter Megan Still (8-2) out of the game. Pinch hitter
Marissa Blake grounded to second base and Whittington was forced out trying to advance. With runners on the corners, Blake took off and stole second base.
Lauren Bessent singled up the middle to plate both runs and the Saints led for the first time, 4-3.
Kalyn Loverich (9-5) finished off her complete game by allowing a lead-off single, but stranded the runner at second base by retiring the next three hitters. She scattered eight hits and allowed one earned run. Loverich induced 10 ground outs and eight fly outs.
Malloree Escue singled twice and Whittington singled twice and scored a run for Flagler.
Still tossed six-plus innings and allowed eight hits and three earned runs.
Brittany Ewing singled twice and drove in two runs. Rachelle Gremo singled twice for the Lions.

In game two, with the score tied at one going into the bottom of the seventh, Gremo led off the inning reaching on an infield single. She advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt and then scored on a pinch-hit single to center by Chelsey Steedley which scored Gremo to end the game.
Alana Tabel (7-5) went the distance in the circle for the Lions to earn the win. She scattered three hits and allowed one run. Tabel induced 11 ground outs and seven fly outs.
Gremo singled twice, scored a run and drove in another for Saint Leo.
Katie Enright (8-3) went the distance for Flagler and took the loss. She allowed five hits and two runs.
Christen Moon hit an RBI-double while
Darcey Cochran and
Kirstie Flink each hit a single.
Flagler will visit Georgia Southwestern State University for a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader on Saturday (Mar. 16) at 1 p.m.
