Box Score LAKELAND – Florida Southern College scored single runs in the first and second innings, but it was T.J. Kuban's solo home run that provided all the insurance it would need in an 8-2 triumph over Flagler College in a non-conference baseball game Wednesday night at Henley Field.

Florida Southern won its fifth game in a row and improved to 5-7 while Flagler suffered its fourth consecutive loss and dropped to 7-6.

The Moccasins tallied single runs in the first two innings, one on a ground out and the other on a sacrifice fly.

Cuban belted a one-out solo home run in the fifth off Flagler reliever Jake Brandenberger. The Mocs added one more when Dominic Brugnoni scored on Brad Carlton's single to put Florida Southern up 4-0.

Brugnoni wasn't done there. He belted a two-run home run to increase the Mocs lead to 6-0 in the seventh.

Brett Moreland hit his first home run of the year, a two-run shot, in the eighth inning to provide to lone runs for the Saints.

Florida Southern got both runs back in the bottom of the eighth for the final tally.

Ben Richardson (1-0) tossed five scoreless innnigs to earn the victory. He allowed just two hits, walked three and struck out two.

Brugnoni went 3-for-4 with the home run, two runs batted in and three runs scored. Colin Kish singled, doubled and scored a run.

Mike O'Reilly (0-2) started and last 3 2/3 innings. He yielded four hits, two runs, walked three and fanned four. He was the first of five pitchers used by Flagler.

Moreland went 2-for-4 with the home run and two RBI. Shaun Starnes singled twice.

Flagler steps back into Peach Belt Conference play with a three-game weekend series at home against Georgia College. The two teams will play a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday (Feb. 23).
