Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ST. AUGUSTINE – No. 7 (Collegiate Baseball Newspaper/Division II poll) Lander University scored 24 runs and bashed 32 hits en route to a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader sweep of Flagler College, 11-6 and 13-5, Saturday at Drysdale Field.

Lander improved to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in the Peach Belt while Flagler had its five-game winning streak snapped and fell to 7-4 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

In the opener, Flagler took an early 1-0 lead after Jake Hanson scored on a ground out in the first inning, but Lander answered with a pair of runs in the second. Chris Hyatt tied the game with an RBI-double and the next batter, Austin Dunn hit a line drive to left that turned into a sacrifice fly.

The Bearcats added another run in the fourth and three more in the fifth to take a 6-2 lead, but Hyatt's solo home run in the seventh proved to provide enough insurance and gave Lander a 7-4 lead.

Dylan Wolchick (2-0) tossed six innings, scattered eight hits, allowed three earned runs and fanned seven to pick up the win. Ryan Jones, the third pitcher used by the Bearcats, came in to pitch with a 7-5 lead and two runners on and got out of the inning and finished the game to earn his first save of the year. He tossed 2 2/3 innings and allowed one hit, one run and struck out four batters.

Hyatt went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and collected four runs batted in. Eight of Lander's nine batters had at least one hit and five had two or more. Dunn singled twice and drove in three runs. Weston Lawing hit a home run and scored three runs.

Danny Brown (1-1) tossed five innings and surrendered seven hits, three earned runs, walked four and struck out a career-high 12 batters. Flagler four pitchers combined to strike out 16 batters.

Tyler Vanover hit two solo home runs for the Saints. Joe Post singled, doubled and scored a run while Andrew Brodbeck singled twice and scored a run.

In the nightcap, Flagler again jumped to a 1-0 lead after a Mitch Okey RBI-single in the second inning, but just like the first game, Lander rallied in the top of the third and posted three runs. Connor Lewis had the big hit in the inning with a two-single to right.

The Saints answered in the third on Vanover's RBI-double.

Ahead 4-2 in the top of the fifth, Patrick Grady belted a triple to right-center that plated a run and Lewis doubled home Grady to put the Bearcats up 6-2.

Vanover hit a two-run home run in the home-half of the fifth, but Lander answered with four in the sixth and tacked on three more in the eighth.

Chess Malone (2-0) tossed 6 2.3 innings and scattered eight hits, allowed three earned runs and struck out four to pick up the win.

Graham Ramos singled five times, drove in a run and scored twice for Lander. Lewis went 4-for-6 with a pair of doubles and drove in five runs.

Justin Ratte (1-1) pitched 4 2/3 innings and surrendered eight hits, six runs and struck out four batters for the Saints. Flagler used a total of five pitchers. Tyler Ward tossed 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief. He allowed three hits and fanned two.

Vanover doubled, homered and knocked in three runs.

Flagler and Lander will complete the three-game series tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Drysdale Field.
