Flagler had its season come to an end tonight in the NCAA Tournament.

Saints end season with first round loss in NCAA’s

Box Score GREENWOOD S.C. – Clement Dauchy of Lander University scored his 15th goal of the season just 2:44 into the first overtime to defeat Flagler College 1-0 in an NCAA Division II National Tournament First Round Match Friday night at the Jeff May Complex.

Lander, the No. 3 seed and host, improved to 11-5-1 overall. Flagler, the No. 6 seed, ended its season with a 9-7-3 mark. The last time the Saints lost an overtime match was back on Sept. 20, 2008, at the University of North Florida, 2-1, in a single overtime. Flagler had its remarkable streak of 26 consecutive unbeaten overtime matches come to an end.

Michael Johansson fed a pass to Dauchy about 10 yards away from the goal and he followed with a blast for the golden goal.

Barrett Nielsen tallied five saves for his seventh shutout of the season. Camp Bissell recorded four saves for the Saints.

Lander held a slight 13-10 edge in shots and both teams had five shots on frame. The Bearcats led in corner kicks 9-5 and were called for 14 fouls while the Saints were called for nine.

Lander advances to the second round on Sunday where it will take on the No. 2 seed, Queens University of Charlotte.
