Lofsgaard’s golden goal gives Flagler 2-1 double-overtime win

Box Score AIKEN, S.C. – Erlend Lofsgaard scored the golden goal in the 105th minute as Flagler College edged USC Aiken 2-1 in double-overtime in a Peach Belt Conference men's soccer match Wednesday night at Pacer Pit.

Flagler won its third match in a row and improved to 5-3-2 overall and 3-2-1 in the Peach Belt. USC Aiken played its second consecutive double-overtime contest, but this time lost, and fell to 3-6-2 overall and 0-3-1 in conference play.

Marco Warren found Lofsgaard open and he followed by curling a shot into the top corner of the goal past a diving Joshua Poissant, the Pacer keeper.

After a scoreless first half, Thomas Gallitz scored his first career goal off of an assist from Zach Shanahan in the 53rd minute.

Jason King scored the equalizer off a set piece in the 75th minute.

Camp Bissell recorded three saves for the Saints while Poissant tallied six saves for the Pacers.

USC Aiken held a slight 13-12 advantage in shots, but Flagler had eight shots on goal to USC Aiken's four. The Pacers held an 8-4 advantage in corner kicks. Each team committed 15 fouls.

Flagler hosts the University of Montevallo on Saturday (Oct. 12) night at 7:30 p.m. at Saints Field.
