SAVANNAH, Ga. –
Dianna Craine and
Emilee Taylor combined for 52 kills and 40 digs as No. 16 (AVCA Division II Top 25) Flagler College defeated Lenoir-Rhyne University 3-1 (25-16, 24-26, 25-13, 25-16) and Tusculum College 3-1 (25-16, 22-25, 25-19, 25-23) Saturday afternoon to wrap up the Armstrong Season Opening Tournament at Alumni Arena.
Flagler improved to 3-0 while Lenoir-Rhyne dropped to 0-2 and Tusculum fell to 1-2.
Taylor recorded 14 kills and added nine digs in the first match against Lenoir-Rhyne.
Sophie Meyer added 10 kills while
Abby Meyers chipped in with nine kills and four total blocks.
Casey Gnann led the defense with 27 digs and
Amelia Morgan tallied 48 assists.
Against Tusculum, Craine recorded a season-high 21 kills and completed her second double-double with 23 digs. She added six solo blocks.
Rachel Stacy added 12 kills, seven digs, four total blocks and served up a pair of aces. Gnann led the defense again with 28 digs and Morgan tallied 44 assists.
Flagler will play in the USC Aiken Invitational next weekend (Sept. 7-8) for four matches starting with Palm Beach Atlantic University on Friday at 1 p.m.
