FLORENCE, S.C. – Shelbi Lindsey (Apopka, Fla., Lake Mary HS) poured in 20 points, grabbed eight rebounds and tallied a game-high six steals to Flagler College upset Francis Marion University's Homecoming festivities with a 63-58 victory in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball game Saturday afternoon at the Smith University Center.

Flagler snapped its 10-game losing streak and also notched its first win in six tries against Francis Marion. The Saints improved to 3-20 overall and 2-14 in the Peach Belt. Francis Marion lost its second consecutive game and dropped to 8-16 overall and 3-13 in conference play.

Lindsey made 7-of-16 from the field and was 3-for-7 from behind the arc. She played all 40 minutes. Charlsea Owen (St. Augustine, Fla., Pedro Menendez HS) tallied 15 points and sank three 3-pointers for Flagler. Rachel Brown (Clearwater, Fla., Clearwater HS) added eight points and blocked six shots. Jen Knurek (Orlando, Fla., Lake Mary HS) came off the bench to provide eight points and six rebounds. Latesha Johnson (St. Petersburg, Fla., Lakewood HS) chipped in with seven points, six rebounds and five assists.

Brittany Christian scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Patriots. T.T. Belcher added 10 points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds. Carmella Thompson came off the bench to grab eight rebounds and handed out a game-high eight assists.

Flagler held a 29-25 lead at the half, but blew the game wide open with a 21-3 run early in the second half. Christian sank a 3-pointer for Francis Marion to cut Flagler's lead to 31-30 with 17:55 left, but a Lindsey layup answered Christian's score and sparked the run. Francis Marion went a span of 11:32 in the second half without making a field goal (0-14). Flagler took its biggest lead of the game, 52-33, after a pair of free throws by Knurek.

Undaunted, the Patriots answered with a 25-9 run, capped by a Christian 3-pointer with 14 second left to bring Francis Marion to within three points (61-58). The Patriots could not get any closer.

Flagler takes on UNC Pembroke tomorrow (Feb. 19) at 1:30 p.m. in its final road conference game of the season.
