CLEARWATER –
Kaycee Lisa (Seminole, Fla., Seminole HS) was down to her last strike in the nightcap against Barry University, but she came through with a two-run single as Flagler rallied to defeat Barry 2-1 in the second game of the day at the Eckerd Spring Invitational Friday at Eddie C. Moore Park. Flagler won the first game of the day 8-3 against Lynn University.
Flagler improved its record to 6-0 overall. Barry fell to 4-2 and Lynn dropped to 0-5.
In the first game, Flagler took advantage of a Lynn miscue to erupt for four runs in the fourth inning en route to an 8-3 win.
With a runner on first and two outs,
Becca Millage (Champaign, Ill., The High School of St. Thomas More) hit a ground ball to first base which was misplayed by new Lynn first baseman Carisa Cook. Millage moved all the way to third on the play.
Lauren Ely (Winter Springs, Fla., Winter Springs HS) followed with a single to left to plate Millage and the Saints grabbed a 2-0 lead.
Whitney Little (Bartow, Fla., Indian River State College) singled back to the pitcher and then advanced to second after
Marissa Blake (Winter Springs, Fla., Daytona State College) scored from second. That knocked pitcher Kasey Murray (0-3) out of the game. Missy Montgomery came on in relief and
Lauren Bessent (Jacksonville, Fla., Trinity Christian Academy) greeted her with a two-run single and Flagler led 5-0.
That would be all Flagler starter
Katie Enright (Oakland, N.J., Indian Hills HS) (1-0) would need. She tossed five innings, scattered six hits and fanned five to earn the win.
Kristen Chapman (Jacksonville, Fla., Sandalwood HS) tossed the last two innings.
Alona Personius (Lake Stevens, Wash., Florida State College-Jacksonville) singled three times for the Saints and drove in a pair of runs. Bessent and Ely each singled twice.
Bianca Savulski went 3-for-4 with a double, a run batted in and scored a run for the Fightin' Knights. Mandi Brown singled twice. Murray last 3.2 innings and allowed four hits, five runs, one earned run, and walked three.
