ST. AUGUSTINE – Dianna Craine led Flagler College with a match-high 13 kills in a 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-16) sweep of Lander University in a Peach Belt Conference volleyball match Saturday afternoon at Flagler Gymnasium.

Flagler extended its winning streak to eight matches and improved to 14-6 overall and 7-0 in Peach Belt play. Lander fell to 8-10 overall and 4-3 in league play. Today's match marked the midway point in the conference season.

Craine hit .393 with only two errors on 28 swings. Sophie Meyer added eight kills and seven digs while Rachel Stacy hit a blistering .875 with seven kills on eight errorless swings. Crystal Niederriter made a triumphant return to the line-up after being sidelined with an injury. She hit .500 with seven kills and just one error on 12 swings in her first game action of the season. Casey Gnann led the Saints with 17 digs and Casey Gnann tallied 35 assists.

Hannah Dederick recorded seven kills and tallied one error on 15 swings to hit .400 for the Bearcats. Tarryn Angermeier added seven kills while Kaitlyn Harrison supplied six kills. Madison Kubal led Lander with 17 digs and Jessica Register tallied 19 assists.

Flagler opened up the match with a 10-3 run in the first set en route to a 25-15 win. The Saints had a balanced scoring attack with 17 kills and hit .517 as a team. Four players had three kills.

The second set started out close with seven ties and four lead changes, but Flagler reeled of nine consecutive points to put Lander away. Niederriter started the run with a kill to give the Saints a 16-14 lead. Meyer's ace capped the run with Flagler holding a 24-14 lead. Two plays later, Craine ended the set with a kill and the Saints won again, 25-15.

In the third set, Flagler opened on a 6-2 run, and led by as many as six (16-10) after a Meyers kill, but Lander hung around and closed to 18-15 after an Anna Padezanin kill. The Saints closed the set on a 7-1 run to win 25-16.

Flagler will step out of conference on Tuesday (Oct. 16) at Rollins College in Winter Park for a 7 p.m. match.
