AUGUSTA, Ga. – Flagler College overcame a slow start to defeat Augusta State University 3-1 (19-25, 25-18, 25-16, 25-22) in a Peach Belt Conference volleyball match Friday night at the Christenberry Fieldhouse.
Flagler improved to 9-4 overall as it won its conference opener. Augusta State fell to 6-9 overall and 1-2 in the Peach Belt.
Emilee Taylor (Temple Terrace, Fla., Armwood HS) recorded her sixth consecutive double-double with 14 kills and 14 digs.
Crystal Niederriter (Merritt Island, Fla., Merritt Island HS) had another efficient night hitting .500 with 14 kills and only two errors on 24 swings. She also added three blocks.
Rachel Stacy (Orlando, Fla., Timber Creek HS) contributed 11 kills and five total blocks while
Abby Meyers chipped in with 10 kills.
Olivia Snipes (Easley, S.C., Easley HS) tallied a match-high 51 assists and
Casey Gnann (Boca Raton, Fla., Spanish River HS) collected a match-high 26 digs.
Flagler hit just .167 in the first set, but rebounded to hit .500 and .462 in the next two sets, respectively.
Alex Rohlfing, the PBC's Player of the Week, recorded a team-high 11 kills. Collette Richards collected 14 digs and Krystin Wahlig tallied 32 assists.
Flagler continues on the road with another conference match at the University of Montevallo tomorrow (Sept. 24) at 2 p.m. (Eastern).
