FLORENCE, S.C. − Sarah Johnson's RBI double in the bottom of the 15th inning lifted No. 3 (NFCA/Division II Top 25) North Georgia College & State University over Flagler College, 2-1, in a winner's bracket game of the 2011 Peach Belt Conference Tournament Friday evening at the Freedom Florence Complex

North Georgia improved to 45-9 on the season and will play at 10 a.m. tomorrow (Apr. 16) against the winner of the Armstrong Atlantic-Georgia College game. Flagler fell to 39-15 and will meet the winner of the USC Aiken-Columbus State game at 9 a.m. in an elimination game. Game times were moved up due to the threat of inclement weather forecast for the area tomorrow.

The game was a pitchers duel between Flagler's Donna Munafo (Satellite Beach, Fla., Brevard CC) and North Georgia's Sarah Phillips. Munafo (7-7) went the distance, a school-record 14.1 innings pitched. She scattered nine hits, allowed two runs, walked four and struck out a season-high 12 batters. Munafo retired 11 batters in a row, early on in the contest. Phillips (18-4), the two-time conference pitcher of the year, pitched all 15 innings, allowed two hits, walked three and fanned 17. She retired the first 10 batters she faced and 18-of-the-first-20. Jessica Coan pitched to two batters in the seventh, allowing a home run and a walk before handing the ball back to Phillips.

Ansley Williams led off the 15th for the North Georgia with a walk. She erased on a fielder's choice, but Kasey Knight was able to steal second base. Johnson hit a 1-1 pitch to right-center and Knight scored to end the longest game in the history of Flagler's program. He previous record was last year's game at Rollins (Feb. 23) where Flagler lost 7-6 in 12 innings and the game lasted 3:21.

Williams had given North Georgia a 1-0 lead with a home run in the sixth inning. However, Alona Personius (Lake Stevens, Wash., Florida State College-Jacksonville) greeted Coan, the reliever, with a home run to left field to tie the game.

Knight led North Georgia with two singles and scored a run. Johnson and Katherine Martin each doubled.

Brittany Simmons (Ocala, Fla., Chattanooga State Tech CC) and Katelyn Guinsler (Williston, Fla., Central Florida CC) each singled for Flagler.
