ST. AUGUSTINE − No. 22 (NFCA/Division II Top 25) Flagler College split a Peach Belt Conference softball doubleheader against USC Aiken Tuesday evening at Saints Field. USC Aiken rallied to win the first game 6-5 in eight innings and Flagler rallied in the nightcap, 3-2.
Flagler's overall record stands at 22-4 and 1-1 in Peach Belt play. USC Aiken is now 13-7 overall and 4-4 in league play.
Tori Jolley (Keystone Heights, Fla., Keystone Heights HS) went 3-for-5 with a double, two home runs and four runs batted in for the Saints in the doubleheader. Brandy Bossle led the Pacers, going 5-for-7 with two runs scored and one more driven in. Lindsey Jones went 3-for-7 with a pair of doubles and collected two RBI. India Kornegay (5-3) made two appearances, tossed seven innings and struck out 16 batters.
In the opener, the Pacers trailed 5-0 going into the fifth inning until Whitney Clary hit a run-scoring single and Lauren Locklear followed with a two-run single to get USCA on the board.
Jones hit an RBI double in the sixth to draw the Pacers to within one run (5-4). In the top of the seventh, Bossle led off with a single, and three batters later, moved to second on a base hit by Locklear. Kelley King singled to right-center which plated Jones to tie the game.
After Flagler left one runner on in the seventh, the game moved into extra innings.
Donna Munafo (Satellite Beach, Fla., Brevard CC) (3-1) came on in relief of Flagler starter
Kalyn Loverich (St. Johns, Fla., Bartram Trail HS). Nicole Borden led off by reaching on an error. She was pinch run for by Hillary Stewart who was sacrificed to second base on a bunt. Haley Justice singled to center and the Pacers had runners on the corners with one out. Bossle singled through the left side to score Stewart with the sixth run. Munafo was able to get of the inning without any further damage.
India Kornegay came on in relief of Samantha Lemm (3-0) in the bottom of the eighth. She retired the side in order with a pair of strikeouts to earn her second save of the season.
Lemm tossed 3.1 innings in relief to earn the win. She allowed three hits, a run, walked three and struck out two.
Bossle singled three times, scored twice and drove in a run. Locklear singled twice and collected two RBI while Clary and King each singled twice for USCA.
Munafo tossed one inning, surrendered three hits and an unearned run. Loverich tossed seven innings, scattered 11 hits and allowed four earned runs and fanned four.
Flagler hits four home runs in the first game and hit back-to-back-to-back home runs in the fourth inning. Jolley socked a solo homer in the second and then
Robyn Draper (Brampton, Ontario, State College of Florida) belted a two-run shot to left-center in the fourth. Jolley followed Draper's shot and
Stacy Piagno (St. Augustine, Fla., Pedro Menendez HS) greeted Pacer reliever Lemm with another home run.

In game two, Jolley hit a two-run double in the fourth to put Flagler on top 2-1.
Breezy Collings (Orange City, Fla., Brevard CC) added some insurance in the sixth with a solo home run.
USC Aiken made it interesting in the seventh when Jones singled in Locklear, who hit a one-out double. Munafo (4-1) struck out Borden to end the game.
Munafo pitched all seven innings and scattered nine hits, allowed one earned run and struck out four.
Draper had Flagler's only other hit in the game.
Kornegay went the distance and allowed three hits, three runs and struck out 14 batters. She retired 11-of-the-first-12 batters she faced.
Jones singled, doubled and drove in a run while Bossle singed twice.
Flagler hosts Columbus State University in a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader on Thursday (Mar. 10) at 5 p.m.
