GREENWOOD, S.C. − Flagler College finished in 10th place after at the 36-hole Bearcat Invitational which concluded Tuesday at the Greenwood Country Club (par 72; 6800 yards). The Saints shot a two-round total of 589 which included a 293 in today's final round.

UNC Pembroke came from 10 shots back to start the final round and closed with a 283 to lead the 17-team with a 2-under par 574. The Braves held off Carson-Newman College by one stroke and Georgia College by two strokes.

Joe Young of Georgia College earned medalist honors by carding a 6-under 138 and won by two strokes. He shot a 68 this afternoon to tie for the best round of the tournament. 

Greg Mergel (Allenwood, N.J., Wall Township HS) finished in a seven-way tie for 15th place with an even par 144 to lead Flagler's scorers. Chris Bray (Hilliard, Fla., Hilliard HS) carded a 3-over 147 to finish in a tie for 30th place. He shot a 71 this afternoon which was the best round of the tournament for Flagler. Joel Dahlenburg (St. Augustine, Fla., Bartram Trail HS) shot a 5-over 149 and finished in a tie for 38th place. Alex Bennett finished with a 6-over 150 and placed 46th. Andrew McCracken (Virginia Beach, Va., First Colonial HS) shot a 7-over 151 and finished in a tie for 54th place. Travis Ralph (St. Petersburg, Fla., St. Petersburg College), playing as an individual, carded a 6-over 150 and tied for 46th place.

Flagler will take on Gustavus Adolphus College of Saint Peter, Minn., in a dual match Friday (Apr. 1) at the St. Johns Country Club.
