MELBOURNE − Florida Tech swept Flagler College in a non-conference softball doubleheader Thursday afternoon at Dr. Nancy Bottge Field. The Panthers won both games by a run, 2-1 and 3-2.
Florida Tech snapped a three-game losing streak and improved to 14-14 on the season while Flagler fell to 28-12.
In the opener, Amanda Bueno's RBI single in the third inning proved to be the game winning hit for the Panthers. Natalie Beach led off the inning with a double and two batters later, scored on Bueno's hit to give Florida Tech a 2-0 lead.
That would be all the run support Brianna Barth (8-8) needed in the circle. She pitched a complete game, scattered six hits, allowed one run and struck out two batters. Barth got 12 Flagler batters to ground out and another seven to fly out. She retired the first 13-of-14 batters she faced.
