DUE WEST, S.C. − Flagler College snapped its three-game losing streak with a non-conference doubleheader sweep at Erskine College Friday afternoon at the Erskine Softball Complex. Flagler won the opener 9-7 in eight innings and completed the sweep with a 4-1 win in the second game.
 
Flagler improved to 27-9 overall while Erskine fell to 9-8-1.

In the opener, Flagler built a 7-2 lead only to see Erskine rally back and tie the game with two runs in the seventh inning. But in the top of the eighth, Stacy Piagno (St. Augustine, Fla., Pedro Menendez HS) scored on a double play and Alona Personius (Lake Stevens, Wash., Florida State College-Jacksonville) socked a solo home run for insurance.

In the Flying Fleet half of the eighth inning, Saints reliever Kalyn Loverich (St. Johns, Fla., Bartram Trail HS) hit a batter and walked another to load the bases. She followed by striking out the side to end the inning and the game.

Personius hit a two-run single in the second to give Flagler a 4-2 lead. Katelyn Guinsler (Williston, Fla., Central Florida CC) hit a two-run single in the fifth and Piagno doubled her home to push the Saints lead to 7-2.

The Flying Fleet scored a run in the fifth and Larissa Shannon belted a two-run homer in the sixth. Erskine trailed 7-5. In the bottom of the seventh, a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly provided the equalizing runs.

Katie Enright (Oakland, N.J., Indian Hills HS) (1-0) tossed an inning in relief to pick up her first collegiate win. She allowed three hits, two runs, but did strike out a batter. Loverich tossed the eighth and earned her second save of the season.

Personius went 2-for-4 with the home run and collected three runs batted in. Piagno doubled twice, scored twice and drove in a run. Lauren Ely (Winter Springs, Fla., Winter Springs HS) singled twice and scored two runs.

Leigh Anne Shelly (0-1) pitched three innings in relief. She gave up one hit, an earned run and walked two.

Shannon went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBI. Whitney Brown singled twice.

In the second game, Flagler scored two runs in the third inning en route to a 4-1 win. Robyn Draper (Brampton, Ontario, State College of Florida) hit a sacrifice fly which drove in the game winning run and Kaycee Lisa (Seminole, Fla., Seminole HS) drove in another run for insurance.

Donna Munafo (Satellite Beach, Fla., Brevard CC) (5-2) tossed five innings, surrendered two hits, a run and struck out three. Loverich closed the last two innings and only allowed one hit and fanned two to earn her second save of the day and third of the season.

Lauren Bessent (Jacksonville, Fla., Trinity Christian Academy) went 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Draper singled, doubled and knocked in a run. Tori Jolley (Keystone Heights, Fla., Keystone Heights HS) singled twice.

Katherine Mulzer (0-1) went the distance and gave up 10 hits, three earned runs and walked four.

Ashlyn Hicks singled and doubled.

Flagler returns to Peach Belt Conference play on Sunday in a noon doubleheader at Lander University.
