ST. AUGUSTINE − Flagler College bested the University of Illinois-Springfield and Amherst College Wednesday afternoon at The Palencia Club (par 72; 7073 yards). Flagler carded a 302 and won by 23 strokes.

UIS finished second with a 325 and Amherst, a member of NCAA Division III, shot a 374.

Three players tied for medalist honors with a 2-over par 74. Joel Dahlenburg (St. Augustine, Fla., Bartram Trail HS) and Greg Mergel (Allenwood, N.J., Wall Township HS) of Flagler were joined by Zach Phillips of UIS atop the leaderboard. 

Alex Bennett (Rochester, Mich., Scottsdale CC), playing as an individual, carded a 4-over 76 and was joined in a tie for fourth place with teammates Chris Bray (Hilliard, Fla., Hilliard HS) and Andrew McCracken (Virginia Beach, Va., First Colonial HS), who was also playing as an individual. Travis Ralph (St. Petersburg, Fla., St. Petersburg College) shot a 6-over 78 and finished in seventh place while Christopher Waxberg (Stockholm, Sweden, Hersby) carded a 9-over 81. Christopher Hughes (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., Ponte Vedra HS), playing as an individual, finished in 10th place with a, 11-over 83.

Flagler will now prepare for the Bearcat Invitational Mar. 28-29 at the Greenwood (S.C.) Country Club.
