CLEARWATER − The 22nd-ranked (NFCA/Division II Top 25) Flagler College softball team split a non-conference doubleheader Sunday afternoon at the Eckerd Triton Spring Invitational at the Eddie C. Moore Complex. Flagler lost the opener to Saint Leo University, 8-4, but rallied to win the second game 11-3 over Eckerd College.
Flagler moves its record to 19-3. Saint Leo improved to 9-11 and Eckerd fell to 5-11.
Stacy Piagno (St. Augustine, Fla., Pedro Menendez HS) went a combined 5-for-5 with a double, two runs batted in and scored three runs in the two games.
Tori Jolley (Keystone Heights, Fla., Keystone Heights HS) had four singles for the Saints.
Donna Munafo (Satellite Beach, Fla., Brevard CC) (2-0) pitched in both games and tossed a total of eight innings allowed three hits and three unearned runs. She fanned four.
In the first game, Flagler fell behind 3-0 after three innings. Jolley helped rally Flagler with an RBI single in the top of the fourth and another run was scored on an error in the same play.
But the Lions roared for five runs in the home half of the fourth. The Saints committed three errors which led to four unearned runs.
Flagler added single runs in the fifth and seventh innings.
Jamie Walker (1-1) picked up the win. She tossed four innings and allowed four hits and one earned run. Diane Gonzalez singled twice, drove in a run and scored another. Brittany Yates doubled and scored three runs.
Kelly Riddick (Hampton, Fla., Central Florida CC) (8-2) tossed 3.1 innings and surrendered six hits and four earned runs. Piagno singled twice, hit a double, scored a run and drove in another. Jolley singled twice and drove in a run.

In the second game, Flagler rallied from a 3-0 deficit with a single run in fourth inning and then broke the game open with eight unearned runs in the fifth. The Saints scored two more in the sixth to invoke the mercy rule.
Alona Personius (Lake Stevens, Wash., Florida State College-Jacksonville) led off the fourth with a double and went to third on
Breezy Collings' (Orange City, Fla., Brevard CC)base hit. Collings advanced on the throw and then Piagno laid down a squeeze bunt which scored Personius with Flagler's first run.
In the fifth, Flagler took advantage of two Eckerd errors to key the eight-run outburst. Collings belted a two-run double to tie the game and Jolley followed with a single and pinch runner
Kaycee Lisa (Seminole, Fla., Seminole HS) advanced to third and scored on an error for the eventual game winning run.
Lauren Bessent (Jacksonville, Fla., Trinity Christian Academy) hit a two-run single later in the inning.
Katelyn Guinsler (Williston, Fla., Central Florida CC) ended the game in the sixth when her bases-loaded single scored two runs.
Munafo tossed six innings, allowed three hits, three unearned runs and struck out three. Six different Flagler players had two hits. Collings singled, doubled and drove in two runs. Personius singled, doubled and scored twice.
Alex Sasso (2-4) lasted 4.2 innings, surrendered eight hits and one earned run.
Flagler returns to action next weekend at the Mid-South Classic in Spartanburg, S.C. Flagler opens on Friday against Lincoln Memorial University at 6 p.m. and will follow against Coker College at 8 p.m.
