AUGUSTA, Ga. −
Evan Grandizio's (Bloomsburg, Pa., Monmouth University)two-run single in the seventh inning helped rally Flagler College to a 5-3 win over Augusta State University in a Peach Belt Conference baseball game Sunday afternoon at Lake Olmstead Stadium.
Flagler improved to 9-8 on the season and 2-1 in the Peach Belt. Augusta State dropped to 7-9 overall and 1-2 in league play.
Tyler McKendree (Jacksonville, Fla., Bartram Trail HS) (3-0) picked up the win in relief. He tossed two innings and retired all six batters he faced.
Max Rusch (Fargo, N.D., Des Moines Area CC) followed
Zach Gray (Ponte Vedra Beach,Fla., Bryan College) to earn his fourth save of the season. He went the final two innings, allowed one hit and struck out four.
Micah Kellogg (Lakewood, N.Y., Jamestown CC) started and went five innings, allowed seven hits, three runs and struck out seven.
Kyle Foti (Stamford, Conn., Trinity Catholic HS) went 4-for-5 with two doubles, a home run and two runs scored. Grandizio came off the bench to collect two singles and two runs batted in.
Andy Onufrak and Menelik Vereen each singled twice for the Jaguars. Curtis Parker added a triple.
Josh Barks (0-1) took the loss in relief. He went three innings and surrendered three hits, two runs, walked three and fanned three.
Flagler is idle until Mar. 6 when it hosts Lake Erie College in a doubleheader at 1 p.m. at Flagler Stadium.
