AUGUSTA, Ga. – No. 16 (Campbell's/ITA Division II Rankings) Flagler College edged No. 29 Augusta State University 5-4 in a Peach Belt Conference women's tennis match Sunday afternoon at the Newman Tennis Center.

Flagler improved to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in the Peach Belt. Augusta State fell to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

Lauren Pfeiffer (Fort Pierce, Fla., Florida Gulf Coast Univ.) and Nachell Proctor (Bradenton, Fla., Hillsborough CC) posted Flagler's lone win in doubles play as they won 8-4 over Marina Ferreira and Bianca Machado at No. 1 doubles. The Lady Jaguars had to go to a tiebreaker to claim the other two doubles matches. Victoria Lindqvist and Rocheta Oliveira topped Jennifer Saviano (Davie, Fla., St. Thomas Aquinas HS) and Rachel Gould (Toronto, Ontario, Vaughan Road Academy) 9-8 (7-5) at No. 2 while Lissa Murakami and Camila Correa downed Chelsea Taylor (Bradenton, Fla., Bradenton Prep Academy) and Deon Miller (Miami, Fla., Dr. Michael Krop HS) 9-8 (7-4).

Pfeiffer went to three sets to defeat Lindqvist 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 at No. 1 singles. Veronica Figueroa (Orlando, Fla., Cypress Creek HS), Saviano and Miller each won their respective singles matches in straight sets. Figueroa bested Machado 7-5 and 6-4 at No. 3 singles.

Flagler will play its home opener on Feb .26 at 3 p.m. against Georgia Southwestern State University at the Flagler Tennis Center.
