PALM BEACH GARDENS − Flagler College ran its record to 8-0, continuing its best start in the program's history, with a doubleheader sweep of Palm Beach Atlantic University Saturday afternoon at the Lake Catherine Sports Complex. Flagler won the opener 4-1 in eight innings and took the second game 5-0.

Palm Beach Atlantic fell to 3-3.

In the first game, Kelly Riddick (Hampton, Fla., Central Florida CC) (4-0) scattered four hits over eight innings and fanned a season-high eight batters for the Saints. She retired the last nine-of-10 batters she faced.

Flagler plated three runs in the top of the eighth to break the 1-all tie. Lauren Bessent (Jacksonville, Fla., Trinity Christian Academy) led off the eighth with a walk and was sacrificed to second by Lauren Ely (Winter Springs, Fla., Winter Springs HS). Later, she took third on a wild pitch. With two outs, Breezy Collings (Orange City, Fla., Brevard CC) was intentionally walked and Tori Jolley (Keystone Heights, Fla., Keystone Heights HS) socked a base hit to right-center to score the game-winning run. Kristen Chapman (Jacksonville, Fla., Sandalwood HS) followed with a two-run single to provide ample insurance.

Jolley went 2-for-3 with a runs scored and one run batted in. Alona Personius (Lake Stevens, Wash., Florida State College-Jacksonville) singled twice and collected one RBI.

Brittany Schneider singled twice for the Sailfish. Kimberly Traxler doubled and Mari Stokes hit a triple and drove in a run. Lauren Bubeck (1-2) went the distance and surrendered seven hits and four runs, but struck out eight.
