ST. AUGUSTINE – UNC Pembroke opened the game on a 15-2 run and had enough to hold off Flagler College for a 67-58 win in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball Saturday afternoon at Flagler Gymnasium.

UNC Pembroke snapped a two-game losing streak and improved to 4-4 overall and 1-1 in the Peach Belt. Flagler lost its fifth game in a row and fell to 1-8 overall and 0-4 in league play.

Courtney Bolton recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds to pace the Lady Braves. Amelia Partin came off the bench to provide 11 points while Taylor Gallentine added 10 points and nine rebounds.

The Lady Braves shot 75% (18-24) from the free throw line, including making 15-of-18 (83.3%) in the second half alone. UNCP enjoyed a 36-20 advantage in scoring inside.

Taye'Lor Trotter (St. Petersburg, Fla., Lakewood HS) scored a game-high 19 points, 13 in the second half, to lead the Saints. Treva Mason (Orlando, Fla., West Orange HS) recorded a double-double with 15 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. She corralled 10 rebounds in the first half. Latesha Johnson (St. Petersburg, Fla., Lakewood HS) tallied a game-high six assists.

Flagler was held scoreless for the first 11:22 of the game as it went 0-for-11 until Mason scored on a layup.

The Lady Braves held a 26-19 lead going into the half as both teams struggled from the field. UNCP shot 39.3% (11-28) and Flagler shot 24.2% (8-33).

A Johnson layup with 16:03 left to go cut the UNCP lead to 33-30, but that would be as close as Flagler could get.

On the next trip down the floor for the Lady Braves, Gallentine sank a 3-pointer which started an 8-1 run.

Flagler wraps up the month of December with a non-conference game against the University of West Florida on Monday (Dec. 19) at 1 p.m. at Flagler Gymnasium.
