KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Flagler College's
Johan Bergfeld (Akers Styckebruk, Sweden, Rekarnegymnasiet) and
Joseph Toby (Jacksonville, Fla. (Freetown, Sierra Leone), Wolfson HS) were selected to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's (NSCAA) Division II All-Southeast Region First-Team, released this afternoon.
This is the second consecutive year that both players have earned first-team all-region honors from the NSCAA. Both are eligible for NSCAA All-America considerations.
Bergfeld, a senior midfielder, has already earned Daktronics third-team All-America as well as All-Southeast Region honors this season. Bergfeld was selected as the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Year on top of earning Academic All-America, Academic All-Region and Academic All-Conference honors. He started all 23 matches this season and scored six goals, including four game-winners, and tallied five assists for 17 points.
Toby, a junior midfielder, recently earned Daktronics first-team All-America honors and was tabbed for its All-Southeast Region team. He was a first-team all-conference selection this year. Toby started in 22 of the 23 matches he played in. He tied for the team lead with 11 goals and tallied eight assists for a team-best 30 points. He scored three equalizers this past season.
Head coach
John Lynch was named the NSCAA/Mondo Southeast Region Coach of the Year last week.
Flagler finished the season ranked No. 5 in the NSCAA/Continental Tire Division II Top 25 and posted a 17-3-3 overall record, including a 6-1-1 mark in conference play.
