Florida Southern rolls past Flagler, 99-48

ST. AUGUSTINE – Michaela Frawley poured in a game-high 29 points and added seven rebounds and five blocked shots to help lead No. 22 (WBCA/Division II Top 25) Florida Southern College to a 99-48 victory over Flagler College in a non-conference women's basketball game Wednesday night at Flagler Gymnasium.

Florida Southern remains undefeated at 6-0 while Flagler dropped to 1-4.

Tracy Fosterling added 16 points, five rebounds and three assists while Alexis Hochstetler tallied 16 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field. Sofie Lundberg came off the bench to provide 15 points. Eight-of-the-nine Moccasins suited up for tonight's game scored a point. Morgan Lamberg grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds and Melanie Ducott came off the bench to hand out 11 assists and tally four steals.

The Mocs shot 57.5% (42-73) from the field for the game. Florida Southern out-scored Flagler 54-24 in the paint and scored 33 points off 22 Flagler turnovers. The Mocs also scored 24 points in transition.

Latesha Johnson (St. Petersburg, Fla., Lakewood HS) led Flagler with 12 points. Jen Knurek (Orlando, Fla., Lake Mary HS) added seven points and seven rebounds.

The Saints were held to 28.1% (18-64) from the field, including 22.6% (7-31) shooting in the first half. Flagler made 1-of-13 (7.75) from 3-point range. The Saints grabbed 19 offensive rebounds.

The Mocs used an 18-2 run midway through the first half to take a commanding 30-10 lead with 6:13 remaining in the half. Lamberg sank an 8-foot jumper to complete the run for Florida Southern.

Flagler will open Peach Belt Conference play on Saturday (Dec. 3) at Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, Ga., at 1:30 p.m.
