SAVANNAH, Ga. – No. 1 (ITA Division II) Armstrong Atlantic State University blanked No. 22 Flagler College 9-0 in a Peach Belt Conference women's tennis match Wednesday afternoon at the Bacon Park.

Armstrong Atlantic, the two-time defending NCAA Division II champions, won its 37th match in a row and improved to 21-0 overall and 11-0 in the Peach Belt. The Lady Pirates have won 73 conference matches in a row. Flagler had its two-match winning streak snapped and fell to 13-6 overall and wrapped up its first year in the PBC with an 8-4 record.

All three of AASU's doubles teams are ranked nationally in the top 25. Third-ranked Martina Beckmann and Alida Muller-Wehlau defeated Chelsi de Cuba (Fort Pierce, Fla./Vero Beach HS) and Lauren Pfeiffer (Fort Pierce, Fla./Florida Gulf Coast U.) 8-4. Fourth-ranked Gabriella Kovacs and Sona Novakova rolled past Veronica Figueroa (Orlando, Fla./Cypress Creek HS) and Jennifer Saviano (Davie, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas HS) 8-2 while 21st-ranked Kathleen Henry and Tina Ronel downed Chelsea Taylor (Bradenton, Fla./Bradenton Prep) and Rachel Gould (Toronto, Ontario/Vaughan Road Academy) 8-3.

Five-of-the-six singles players for Armstrong Atlantic are ranked in the top 45. The Lady Pirates won all six singles flights in straight sets. Pfeiffer did push 19th-ranked Ronel before succumbing to a 6-3 and 6-4 defeat.

Flagler wraps up its regular season on Friday (Apr. 9) at No. 21 Florida Tech in Melbourne at 2 p.m.
