ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. − Nate Fudala's (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin HS) RBI single in the fifth inning capped a three-run frame to rally Flagler College past Armstrong Atlantic State University 5-4 in a Peach Belt Conference East Division baseball game Friday night at Flagler Stadium.

Flagler raised its overall record to 24-20 and 12-10 in the Peach Belt. With the win, Flagler's also raised its divisional record to 7-6 to clinch at worst the No. 4 seed in the East. Should the Saints win both games tomorrow, they will be tied with USC Aiken at 9-6 in the division and would be the No. 3 seed in the East, having taken two-out-of-three games from USCA earlier in the season. Flagler is in its inaugural season in the league. Armstrong Atlantic fell to 25-19 overall and 6-13 in the conference. The Pirates are now 3-10 in the division and are eliminated from postseason play.

Flagler started the fifth inning trailing 4-2, but Zach Bove (Winter Haven, Fla./Central Florida CC) started the rally with a lead off single. John Sgromolo (Fleming Island, Fla./Clay HS) followed with a single up the middle. After a sacrifice bunt attempt failed to push the runners up a base, Jose Rohena (Tampa, Fla./St. Petersburg College) hit a ball off the handle to AASU shortstop Jake Sutton who could not find a handle on. Travis Coverston (Jacksonville, Fla./Stanton College Prep) singled through the hole into left field to drive in Sgromolo and Payne Maddox (Jacksonville, Fla./Stanton College Prep) hit a sacrifice fly to center field to plate Dagmar Pena (Jacksonville, Fla./U. of Tampa) to tie the game. Fudala capped the inning with his RBI single.

Bove, the Peach Belt Player of the Week, had his sixth multi-hit game in a row after going 3-for-4 with a run scored. Cale Owen (Clearwater, Fla./home school) singled and doubled while Will Percy (Colorado Springs, Colo./St. Mary's HS) collected a pair of singles. Maddox and Fudala each had two singles and one RBI and Pena hit a two-run double in the first.

Adam Jaudon (St. Augustine, Fla./Pedro Menendez HS) (5-1) tossed a complete game, scattered eight hits, allowed three earned runs and fanned a career-high eight batters. He tossed an economical 113 pitches and retired 17-of-21 batters, including 10 in a row midway through the game.

Alex Wyche singled, doubled and drove in two runs for the Pirates. Auston Thomas singled twice. Josh Wilson tied the Peach Belt record for career hits with 304 when he doubled in the third inning.

Thomas Gray (4-3), the PBC Pitcher of the Week, tossed five innings and surrendered 12 hits and three earned runs.

The same two teams meet tomorrow at 1 p.m. doubleheader on “Tim Barnwell Little League Day” at Flagler Stadium.
