MONTEVALLO, Ala. − Chris Sosebee went 5-for-7 with two doubles, three home runs and nine runs batted in to help lead the University of Montevallo to a Peach Belt Conference baseball doubleheader sweep of Flagler College Saturday afternoon at the Kermit A. Johnson Field. Montevallo rallied in the opener to win 7-5 and then rolled to an 11-0 win in the second game.

Montevallo snapped a three-game losing streak and improved to 12-29 overall and 5-15 in the Peach Belt. Flagler lost its fourth in a row and fell to 20-18 overall and 8-9 in the conference.

In the opener, Flagler held a 5-4 lead going into the bottom of the eighth inning when Montevallo rallied to score three times. The first two batters of the inning walked which chased Flagler starter Johnny Gaines (Jacksonville, Fla./Hillsborough CC) from the game. Tyler McKendree (Jacksonville, Fla./Bartram Trail HS) came on in relief for the Saints. Josh Headley laid down a sacrifice bunt to move the runners up a base and an infield ground out tied the game 5-all. Andy Revell singled home what proved to be the game winning run and Duston Daugherty followed with a single that plated Revell who had advanced to second on a balk.

John Michael Caraway struck out the side in the top of the ninth to earn his first save of the season.

Zach Bove (Winter Haven, Fla./Central Florida CC) hit a two-run single in the sixth to break up a 3-all tie and give the Saints a 5-3 lead.

Sosebee went 3-or-3 with a double, two home runs and four runs batted in. Kevin Garcia hit two doubles while Daugherty, Josh Dabbs and Revell collected two singles apiece.

Wes Rich (6-5) tossed two scoreless innings in relief for the win.

Bove went 2-for-5 with three RBI for Flagler. Dagmar Pena (Jacksonville, Fla./U. of Tampa) hit a solo home run in the fifth. Ollie Bertrand (Sainte-Adèle, Quebec/Monroe CC) drew four walks.

Gaines (6-5) tossed seven-plus innings, surrendered 11 hits and six runs.

In the second game, the Falcons scored six times in the third and four more times in the seventh for an 11-0 win.

In the third inning, Austin Dubberly hit a two-run single and Sosebee later added a two-run double as the Falcons sent 10 batters to the plate.

In the seventh, Garcia hit an RBI single and Sosebee belted a three-run home run to cap the scoring.

Garcia singled twice, homered, scored three times and drove in three runs. Sosebee went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run and collected five RBI. Scottie Deason singled twice and added a double.

Joey Noro (2-3) tossed a complete game seven-hit shutout and fanned 10.

John Sgromolo (Fleming Island, Fla./Clay HS) singled and doubled for the Saints.

Tim Lappin (Jacksonville, Fla./Paxon HS) (2-3) tossed three innings and surrendered seven hits and seven runs.

Flagler and Montevallo will wrap-up the three-game series tomorrow at 1 p.m. (Central)
