MELBOURNE, Fla. − Flagler College swept a non-conference softball doubleheader from Florida Tech, winning 2-0 and 3-1, Tuesday afternoon at Dr. Nancy Bottge Memorial Field.
Flagler improved to 20-16 overall, which set a program record for most wins in a season. Florida Tech suffered its fifth consecutive loss and fell to 13-12.
In the opener,
Katherine Cabrera's (Hialeah, Fla./Miami Dade College) hit a two-run single in the sixth inning to provide the only offense in the game.
Kelly Riddick (Hampton, Fla./Central Florida CC) (12-9) tossed a complete game two-hit shutout and fanned seven for the Saints. She also induced 10 fly outs. Riddick retired 11-of-the-first-13 batters she faced and only allowed two base runners to reach scoring position.
Brittney Hatem (Hialeah, Fla./Wallace CC-Dothan) singled, doubled and scored a run.
Sarah Oram and Lani Ankiel each singled for the Panthers. Brianna Barth (7-6) went the distance, allowed five hits, two unearned runs and struck out six.

In the second game, Flagler scored all the runs it would need in the top of the first inning.
Sam Boatner (Auburndale, Fla./Polk CC) hit an RBI double and later scored on a single by
Brittany Simmons (Ocala, Fla./Chattanooga State Tech CC).
Boatner (1-0) tossed five innings and allowed three hits, one run and struck out three. She retired six-of-the-first-seven batters she faced in her first start since last year after undergoing off-season surgery.
Kristen Chapman (Jacksonville, Fla./Sandalwood HS) tossed the last two innings to earn the save. She allowed just one hit.
Cabrera hit three singles and drove in a run for the Saints. Boatner singled and doubled while
Heather Hill (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Indian River CC) singled twice.
Reanna Witt singled twice for the Panthers. Witt (0-2) also picked up the loss in the circle lasting just one inning, allowing four hits and two runs. Barth finished the last six innings and scattered five hits, allowed an unearned run, but walked four.
Flagler returns to Peach Belt Conference play this weekend with a doubleheader against UNC Pembroke on Saturday (Mar. 27) at 1 p.m. at Saints Field.
