AMERICUS, Ga. − Flagler College swept a Peach Belt Conference softball doubleheader at Georgia Southwestern State University Friday afternoon at Lady 'Canes Field. Flagler won the opener 4-2 and took the second game 6-0.

Flagler improved to 18-14 overall and 4-2 in the Peach Belt. Georgia Southwestern lost its fourth game in a row and fell to 11-22 overall and 1-9 in league play.

The Saints used a three-run sixth inning to beak a 1-all tie en route to the 4-2 win. Kaycee Lisa (Seminole, Fla./Seminole HS) hit a one-out double and then scored on Tori Jolley's (Keystone Heights, Fla./Keystone Heights HS) base hit to put Flagler ahead 2-1. The next batter, Kaitlyn Guinsler (Williston, Fla./Central Florida CC), followed with a two-run home run to put the game away.

Kelly Riddick (Hampton, Fla./Central Florida CC) (11-9) tossed a complete game three-hitter, allowed one earned run and struck out a season-high 14 batters.

Lisa doubled, tripled and scored twice while Jolley singled twice and drove in two runners. Lauren Ely (Winter Springs, Fla./Winter Springs HS) also singled twice.

Lyndi Duff hit a double for Georgia Southwestern. Mariko Nomura (5-11) allowed seven hits and four runs in seven innings of work.

In the second game, Flagler plated five runs in the first inning and cruised to a 6-0 victory.

The first four Flagler batters in the game reached on hits. Brittney Hatem (Hialeah, Fla./Wallace CC-Dothan) hit a two-run double and later, Lauren Jurco (Palm Harbor, Fla./Pasco-Hernando CC) hit a two-run single. The Saints sent 10 batters to the plate in the inning.

In the top of the seventh, Hatem hit a solo home run. She finished the game 2-for-3 with three runs batted in.

Kristen Chapman (Jacksonville, Fla./Sandalwood HS) (6-3) pitched four scoreless innings and allowed just four hits. Sam Boatner (Auburndale, Fla./Polk CC) tossed the last three innings and allowed just one hit and fanned three to earn her second save of the season.

Heather Hodge doubled for the Lady 'Canes. Nomura (5-12) took the loss after starting and not being able to retire any of the three batters she faced.

Flagler continues its road swing tomorrow (Mar. 20) at Columbus (Ga.) State University at 1 p.m. in another Peach Belt doubleheader.
