ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. − Flagler College swept a non-conference softball doubleheader from Eckerd College by identical 3-1 scores Saturday afternoon at Saints Field.

Flagler won its third game in a row and improved to 16-12 on the season while Eckerd fell to 7-14-1.

In the opener, Kelly Riddick (Hampton, Fla./Central Florida CC) (10-8) scattered two hits and fanned nine in the circle for the Saints. She retired the last nine-of-10 batters she faced.

Riddick got all the run support she would need when Stacy Piagno (St. Augustine, Fla./Pedro Menendez HS) hit a two-run home run to left in the second inning.

Heather Hill (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Indian River CC) added a solo home run in the fifth for insurance.

Brittney Hatem (Hialeah, Fla./Wallace CC-Dothan), Katherine Cabrera (Hialeah, Fla./Miami Dade College) and Lauren Ely (Winter Springs, Fla./Winter Springs HS) each singled twice for the Saints.

Emma Docking had an RBI single in the third for the Tritons.

Mackenzie Dawson (3-7) went six innings, allowed eight hits and three runs. She struck out six batters.

In the second game, Piagno belted her second home run of the day with a three-run shot in the fourth inning to account for all of Flagler runs in game two.

Kristen Chapman (Jacksonville, Fla./Sandalwood HS) (5-2) pitched five scoreless innings and allowed just five hits and struck out five. Sam Boatner (Auburndale, Fla./Polk CC) made her return to the circle by closing the game and earned a save. She allowed three hits, a run and fanned three. Boatner had missed the first half of the season recovering from an injury sustained in the fall.

Brittany Simmons (Ocala, Fla./Chattanooga State Tech CC) singled and doubled while Hatem added a pair of singles. Tori Jolley (Keystone Heights, Fla./Keystone Heights HS) also doubled for Flagler.

Amanda Kolonick and Docking each singled twice for Eckerd.

Alex Sasso (1-1) went the distance and surrendered seven hits and three runs.

Flagler hosts No. 1-ranked North Georgia tomorrow (Mar. 14) at 1 p.m. in a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader at Saints Field.
