Kelly Riddick (Hampton, Fla./Central Florida CC) pitched Flagler College to a pair of wins on Saturday at the Eckerd Triton Spring Invitational. Flagler downed Saint Leo University 6-3 to start the day and then shutout 15th-ranked (NFCA Division II) Nova Southeastern University 2-0 to wrap up the day.
The win over Nova Southeastern was Flagler's first over a ranked team in the short year-plus history of the program. The Saints had lost 12 in a row to nationally ranked opponents.
Flagler improved to 7-3 in on the season.
For the day, Riddick tossed 12 scoreless innings allowed seven hits and struck out 10 batters.
In the opener against the Lions, the Saints plated three runs in the first inning and
Chelsea Welch's (Pensacola, Fla./Escambia HS) RBI single in the third proved to be the game winning hit. Flagler scored two more insurance runs in the fourth en route to a 6-3 win.
Six different Saints had singles.
Tori Jolley (Keystone Heights, Fla./Keystone Heights HS) drove in four runs,
Riddick tossed five innings and allowed just one hit and fanned seven.
Five different Saint Leo batters had singles. The Lions scored one run in the sixth and two more in the seventh.

In the second game of the day, against Nova Southeastern, Riddick (5-1) pitched a complete game shutout and only gave up six hits. She induced 11 fly outs and six ground outs.
Flagler scored a pair of unearned runs, one in the fourth and the other in the sixth.
In the fourth inning,
Katherine Cabrera (Hialeah, Fla./Miami Dade College) came up with two outs in the fourth and hit a grounder the NSU third baseman couldn't handle and she went all the way to second.
Stacy Piagno (St. Augustine, Fla./Pedro Menendez HS) came on to run for Cabrera and scored
Heather Hill's (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Indian River CC) single to break the scoreless tie.
The Sharks made two more miscues in the sixth inning which led to an insurance run for the Saints.
Kaley King (Jacksonville, Fla./Trinity Christian Academy) singled twice for Flagler.
Dani Caron (4-1) took the loss in the circle and allowed three hits and two unearned runs for Nova Southeastern.
Flagler wraps up the tournament tomorrow against West Florida at 9 a.m. and then will face the host school, Eckerd, at 11:30 a.m.
