ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. − Flagler College and Nova Southeastern University split a non-conference baseball doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Flagler Stadium. The Saints took the opener 3-1 while the Sharks took game two 4-2.
Flagler is now 3-3 while Nova Southeastern leaves with a 3-4 record.
In the opener,
Jose Rohena (Tampa, Fla./St. Petersburg College) greeted NSU reliever Isaac Hicks with a two-run double in the eighth inning which gave the Saints a 3-1 lead.
Adam Jaudon (St. Augustine, Fla./Pedro Menendez HS) (1-0) picked up the win in relief after tossing two innings and retiring all six batters he faced.
Will Percy (Colorado Springs, Colo./St. Mary's HS) singled, doubled, scored a run and drove in another.
Jonathan Armold (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Pine Crest School) tossed seven innings and allowed five hits, one run and struck out seven.
Jonathon Escarza had an RBI single in the fifth for the Sharks. Chris Hamper (1-1) took the loss on the hill after hurling seven and one-third innings and allowing three hits, three runs and striking out seven.

Armold faced 1 batter in the 8th.
In the second game, Eric McCans' sacrifice fly in the third inning turned out to be the difference in a 4-2 Nova Southeastern win.
Dusty Maggs hit a two-run single in the first inning to get the Sharks on the board. Nikko Echeverria hit a lead-off triple in the third and McCans, the next batter, drove him home on the fly out.
The Saints plated runs in the third and eighth innings.
Ryan Whelan (1-0) tossed seven innings and surrendered three hits and an unearned run and struck out seven. Sean Tighe struck out two-of-the-three-batters he faced in the ninth inning to earn the save.
Echeverria went 3-for-5 with a double, triple, two runs scored and another driven in. Maggs singled twice and drove in a pair of runs.
Cale Owen (Clearwater, Fla./home school) singled twice for the Saints.
Johnny Gaines (Jacksonville, Fla./Hillsborough CC) (0-2) went six innings amd allowed six hits, three runs and struck out six.
Flagler hosts Florida Tech on Tuesday (Feb. 16) at 7 p.m. at Flagler Stadium.
