ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. − Meg Weathersby (Maitland, Fla., Orangewood Christian) recorded her 10th double-double of the season, and fourth in a row, with 11 kills and 13 digs to help lead Flagler College to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-23) win over Armstrong Atlantic State University Wednesday night at The ARC. Also Rebecca Royal (Green Cove Springs, Fla., Fleming Island HS) broke the school record for career block assists with 306. She broke the record of Krista McAra (2004-07) who collected 305 block assists.

Flagler won its sixth consecutive match and improved to 22-7 overall and 12-1 in the Peach Belt Conference. Armstrong Atlantic had its seven-match win streak snapped and fell to 17-12 overall and 6-6 in league play.

Weathersby hit .375 for the match after having just two errors on 24 attempts. Royal broke the school record for block assists when she and Weathersby blocked an attempt by Torrie Bevolo to give Flagler a 4-0 lead in the third set. Rachel Stacy (Orlando, Fla., Timber Creek HS) tallied seven kills and recorded five total blocks. Dianna Craine (Oshawa, Ontario, University of Tulsa) paced the defense with a match-high 16 digs. Casey Gnann (Boca Raton, Fla., Spanish River HS) added 14 digs.

Flagler went on an early 6-2 run to break open the first set with a 10-5 lead. The Saints benefitted from three errors by the Pirates and kills by Weathersby, Laura Beth Lancaster (Ocala, Fla., Georgia Southern University) and Sophie Meyer (Orlando, Fla., The Geneva School).

In the second set, there were eight ties and four lead changes. The Saints were able to break a 21-all tie due to a set error by an AASU player and then an ace by Jillian Unitas (Baldwin, Md., St. Paul's School for Girls) gave Flagler a 23-21 lead. Two more attack errors by the Pirates, which included a solo block by Royal, gave the Saints a 25-21 win.

The third set featured 10 ties and two lead changes. Flagler trailed 23-21, but Bevolo had an attack error followed by a double-hit by Pando to tie the score. Craine closed out the match with back-to-back kills.

Flagler has the chance to claim at least a share of the regular season conference title with a win at UNC Pembroke Friday night at 7 p.m.
