ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Flagler men's soccer team won a non-conference matchup over 15th-ranked (NAIA) Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Wednesday night, 2-0. The Saints scored two goals in the first half en route to the shutout.

Pol Berenguer (Barcelona, Spain/ St. Augustine HS) started the scoring in the 29th minute when he kicked in a loose ball from Mack Hough (St. Augustine, Fla. / Pedro Menendez HS). Hough attempted a header in the box but it was deflected towards Berenguer who was able to kick in the ball.

Flagler's final score came in the 35th minute when Conor Killeen (Dublin, Ireland/ Colaiste Ide) passed right to Greg Taafe (Dorset, England/ Lenoir-Rhyne University) who sunk a shot in the right post. It was Taafe's first goal of the season.

In the second half, tensions starting rising as a result of physical play. Five yellow cards were drawn against ERAU and one red card came against Flagler's Killeen.

For the final 30 minutes, the Saints played a man down. The Eagles had a few shots on Saints' goalkeeper Matt Gilman (Ocala, Fla./ Jacksonville University), but he was able to save them.

Gilman notched his third shutout of the season while saving five shots for Flagler.

The win moves Flagler's record to 5-3-1 with a trip to USC-Aiken coming this Saturday.
