PEMBROKE, N.C. − Johan Bergfeld (Akers Styckebruk, Sweden/Rekarnegymnasiet) scored his first goal of the season to help lead Flagler College to a 3-0 win over the University of North Carolina Pembroke in a Peach Belt Conference men's soccer match Saturday night at the Varsity Grounds.

Flagler raised its record to 2-3-1 overall and are 2-0-0 in the Peach Belt. UNCP had its three-match unbeaten streak snapped and fell to 3-3-1 and 01-0 in the conference.

Bergfeld scored his goal in the fourth minute when he stole the ball from the keeper and quickly deposited it in the back of the net.

Conor Killeen (Dublin, Ireland/Colaiste Ide) intercepted an errant clearance by a Brave player and found Pol Berenguer (Barcelona, Spain/St. Augustine HS) for Flagler's second goal, in the 39th minute.

In the 43rd minute, Danny Burke (Leeds, England/Thomas Danby College) found a wide-open Kevin Partel (St. Augustine, Fla./St. Joseph Academy) in transition to cap the scoring.

Matt Gilman (Ocala, Fla./Jacksonville U.) recorded his first shutout of the season and collected two saves.

Tom Courtney tallied one save for UNCP.

The Braves out-shot the Saints 11-10 and held a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.

Flagler travels to take on Saint Leo University on Wednesday (Sept. 23) at 5 p.m.
