WINTER PARK, Fla. − Adam New's goal in the 62nd minute gave No. 18 Rollins College just enough to top Flagler College 2-1 in a non-conference men's soccer match at the Barker Family Stadium Wednesday night.
Rollins remains unbeaten at 6-0-1 while Flagler falls to 1-3-1.
J.D. Gruenewald set up the eventual game winning score when he beat the Flagler defense and sent a touch pass over to New for the goal.
Dennis Chin netted the first goal of the game for the Tars in the 11th minute. Jacob Deloach took the free kick and New headed the ball over to Chin for the goal.
Will Frandsen (Orange Park, Fla./Orange Park HS) scored his first goal of the season for the Saints when he headed in
Arnel Selman's (Sanica, Bonia & Herzegovina/Wolfson HS) corner kick in the 69th minute.
The Saints had a couple of good looks in the closing minutes of regulation.
Kevin Partel (St. Augustine, Fla./St. Joseph Academy) put a shot on goal in the 82nd minute and an
Eammon Murphy (Winter Springs, Fla./Winter Springs HS) shot went high with seven seconds left.
Aaron Rokeach tallied three saves for the Tars while
Zach Volpi (Altamonte Springs, Fla./Bishop Moore HS) played the first half and
Mat Gilman (Ocala, Fla./Jacksonville U.) played the second half and recorded one save.
Rollins out-shot Flagler 16-11 and held a 10-5 advantage in corner kicks.
Flagler returns to Peach Belt Conference action on Saturday at the University of North Carolina-Pembroke for a 5:30 p.m. match.
