SAVANNAH, Ga. − The Flagler College Saints swept a non-conference softball doubleheader at Armstrong Atlantic State University Friday afternoon at the AASU Softball Field. Flagler took the rallied to win game one 4-3 and held on to win game two 6-4. Flagler improved to 16-27 while AASU fell to 21-21.

In the opener, Flagler wiped out a 2-0 deficit with a four-run sixth inning en route to a 4-3 win.

Brittney Hatem (Hialeah, Fla./Wallace CC-Dothan) led off the inning with a double to left and took third, two batters later when Heather Hill (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Indian River CC) singled and took second on the throw. The next batter, Kaycee Lisa (Seminole, Fla./Seminole HS), drew a walk to load the bases. Sam Boatner (Auburndale, Fla./Polk CC) singled in two runs to tie the game, but Lisa was thrown out trying to advance to third base. Brittany Simmons (Ocala, Fla./Chattanooga State Tech CC) belted a two-run home run, her second of the season, to give Flagler a 4-2 lead.

The Pirates scored one in the bottom of the seventh and had the tying run at third with no one out, but a double play eliminated that game-tying possibility and with runners at first and second, Boatner got Nicole Huddleston to foul out to end the game.

Simmons had two of Flagler's six hits.

Kristen Chapman (Jacksonville, Fla./Sandalwood HS) (5-11) tossed six-plus innings and allowed eight hits and two earned runs. Boatner closed out the seventh to earn her third save of the season.

Erin Billingsley led Armstrong Atlantic with two singles while Ashley Bucket singed, doubled and drove in a run.

Emily Headrick (9-6) went six complete and surrendered six hits, four runs and struck out five batters.

In game two, Lisa belted a three-run home run in the top of the seventh to put Flagler ahead 6-2 and the Saints held on for a 6-4 win.

Hatem and Hill provided RBI singles in the fifth inning and the Saints held a 3-0 lead.

The Pirates rallied by scoring twice in the sixth and two more in the seventh on a single by Sam Floyd.

Boatner (8-9) tossed a complete game, scattered six hits and allowed two earned runs.

Hatem singled, doubled, scored a run and drove in another while Hill belted her eighth home run, a solo shot in the first, to go along with a single, two runs and two RBI. Simmons singled and doubled.

Courtney Alvarez (5-7) went four innings and allowed four hits and one run.

Bailie Temples singled twice for AASU.

Flagler hosts Rollins College on Wednesday (Apr. 15) at 5 p.m. at Saints Field.
