CLEARWATER, Fla. − The Flagler College softball lost two more games at the Eckerd Spring Invitational Saturday afternoon at the Eddie C. Moore Complex. The Saints lost the opener 5-4 to Palm Beach Atlantic and then lost the second game 10-0 to Armstrong Atlantic.

In the opener, PBA rallied scoring three runs in the bottom of the sixth to with 5-4.

Flagler opened the game by scoring four runs in the first, three coming off Heather Hill's (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Indian River CC) home run. Brittany Simmons (Ocala, Fla./Chattanooga State Tech CC) added an RBI single later in the inning.

Ashley Jones (7-2) came on in relief for the Sailfish and held the Saints scoreless over the next six innings. She gave up just two hits and struck out nine.

PBA cut Flagler's lead in half on a two-run double by Candace Horton in the fourth inning.

In the sixth, the first two PBA batters reached on walks and Horton followed with an RBI double to cut Flagler's lead to 4-3. Abbey Shipman followed with an RBI single to tie the game. Sam Boatner (Auburndale, Fla./Polk CC) came on in relief and struck out the next batter, but pinch hitter Erica Walters singled home Horton for the game winning run.

The Saints went down in order in the seventh.

Horton went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a run scored and three RBI for PBA.

Kristen Chapman (Jacksonville, Fla./Sandalwood HS) (2-4) took the loss in relief of Boatner. Chapman came on to pitch in the fourth inning. She tossed 1.2 innings and allowed two hits and three runs.

Boatner went 2-for-3 with a run scored.

In the second game, Armstrong Atlantic wasted little time scoring eight runs in the opening frame en route to a 10-0, five-inning win.

Bailie Temples hit a grand slam in the first inning to key the out-burst by the Pirates. AASU also scored single runs in the second and fifth innings.

Emily Headrick (2-0) and Britton Hammel-Cobb combined on the two-hit shutout.

Chapman (2-5) last two-thirds of an inning and surrendered four hits and two earned runs.

Kaycee Lisa (Seminole, Fla./Seminole HS) and Kirsten Immel (Ocala, Fla./Vanguard HS) each singled for the Saints.
