ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - Grand View College of Des Moines, Iowa and Flagler College split a non-conference baseball doubleheader Sunday afternoon at Flagler Stadium. Grand View took the first game 15-7 and Flagler captured the second game 1-0 in 12 innings.
In the opener, an RBI-single by Doug Benson and an RBI-double by Cesar Camacho gave Grand View a 3-0 lead after the first half inning. The Saints countered with a run in the bottom half of the first but the Viking reeled off seven runs, only two of which were earned, in the second inning.
Camacho ripped three doubles, scored two runs and drove in four runs for Grand View. Benson went 3-for-3 with a double two runs scored and two more runs driven in. Brad Brown tripled, singled twice, scored a run and collected an RBI. Dan Karaszewski (4-0) tossed a complete game, scattering 13 hits and allowing six earned runs. He also fanned six batters.
Preston Picard (Detroit, Mich./Madonna U.) went 3-for-4 with two runs scored for Flagler.
Tim DeSutter (Loxahatchee, Fla./Brevard CC) (2-6) went three innings, allowed 12 hits and four earned runs.

In the second game, a bases loaded walk to
Glenn Kiture (Orlando, Fla./Edgewater HS) by Grand View reliever Kyle Heatherington in the 12th inning ended a 2:34 scoreless drought by both teams.
Jorge Marquez (Caracas, Venezuela/North Iowa Area CC) led the 12th inning off with a base hit up the middle off Viking reliever Chris Linder.
Kenny Bargfeldt (Fishers, Ind./Ball State U.) bunted courtesy runner
Bryan Crouch (Jacksonville, Fla./Arlington Country Day School) over to second.
Chris Guerra (Fremont, Calif./Mount Mercy College) was issued an intentional free pass and after the second out was recorded,
Bryan Harrell (Granger, Ind./Lincoln Trail College) drew a walk on four pitches. Kiture then came up, facing Heatherington, and ran a full count. He looked at a pitch low and away, almost in the dirt to allow Crouch to cross with the games only run.
Randy Miller (Jacksonville, Fla./Florida CC-Jacksonville) went 3-for-6 including a double for Flagler (19-13). Paul Mathews (Baton Rouge, La./Saint Louis CC-Meramec) (7-0) picked up his seventh win in relief, tossing two innings and allowing just two hits.
Brad Jackson (Havana, Fla./North Florida CC) tossed 10 innings and scattered four hits for the Saints.
Linder (0-1) took the loss for Grand View (9-3). He pitched two-thirds of an inning, allowing one hit, one run and walked two batters. Jeff Ratashak tossed nine innings, scattered seven hits and fanned five for the Vikings. Eric Stein collected a pair of singles.
Flagler College hosts Palm Beach Atlantic University in a doubleheader on Tuesday (Mar. 21) at 5 p.m. at Flagler Stadium. Grand View will take on St. Xavier University tomorrow at noon in Daytona Beach.
