ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Warner Southern College Royals and the Flagler College Saints split a Florida Sun Conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Flagler Stadium. The Royals took the opener 9-4 and the Saints salvaged the split with a 2-0 victory.

In the first game, Mark Davis' two-run single in the fourth helped give Warner Southern a 4-0 lead while Victor Joaquin's RBI-single in the same inning proved to be the game winner for the Royals. Cassidy Turner added another RBI single in the frame to give Warner Southern a comfortable 6-0 lead through five innings. WSC would score two more in the sixth and one in the seventh to lead 9-0 going into the home half of the seventh.

Charles Sharman came on in relief of starter Rene Ramirez and walked the first and only two batters he faced. Jeremy Barrett followed and he uncorked a wild pitch to move the runners to second and third. Kris King (Youngstown, Ohio/Santa Fe CC) also drew a walk to load the bases. Another wild pitch allowed Kenny Bargfeldt (Fishers, Ind./Ball State U.) to score and Preston Picard (Detroit, Mich./Madonna U.) to advance to third. King later stole second to put two runners in scoring position. Bryan Harrell (Granger, Ind./Lincoln Trail College) grounded out to second base to advance the runners a base, scoring Picard. Shane Darnofall (Corry, Pa./Hillsborough CC) doubled home King to draw Flagler closer, 9-3. Zach Rossetti (Tequesta, Fla./Jupiter HS) singled home courtesy runner Reno DiCarlantonio (Wellington, Fla./Cardinal Newman HS) to make the score 9-4. Barrett settled down and retired the next two hitters to preserve the win for Warner Southern.

Ramirez (1-0) allowed only three hits in six scoreless innings pitched to earn the win. Wes Lowry collected three singles while Davis singled, homered and drove in five runs. Ron Matheny singled twice as did Turner.

Austin Donmoyer (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove Area HS) (1-1) went 4.2 innings, scattering nine hits and only allowing two earned runs. Picard singled, doubled and scored a run while Darnofall also singled and doubled, but drove in a run.
