Sydney Stewart of the softball team was selected as the Athlete of the Month, sponsored by Holiday Inn Express for the month of March.
Stewart was selected as the athlete of the week on March 27.
(from the March 27 release) The Fortson, Georgia native batted .500 as she went 9-for-18 with two home runs, seven runs batted in, and she scored nine runs as Flagler posted a 3-2 record last week. Stewart finished with an .833 slugging percentage and a .609 on-base percentage. In the second game of the doubleheader at No. 24 Barry University, she collected a pair of singles, scored a run, and drove in another. In a 13-12 win over No. 8 University of North Georgia, Stewart had two singles, two runs batted in, and she scored three runs. She scored the game-ending run in the seventh inning on a sacrifice fly. In the game Sunday, Stewart went 4-for-5 with two home runs, three runs scored, and she had three RBI.
