Cooper Smith of the baseball team was selected as the Academy Bus Athlete of the Week for the period ending April 14.

Smith tossed eight innings, got the win, and allowed just two runs on four hits in Flagler College's 5-2 win over the University of North Georgia last Saturday. The Tallahassee, Florida native retired the first 10 batters he faced and then set down the last 11-of-13 batters. Smith fanned five and induced 11 ground outs and six fly outs. 

For the season, Smith is 5-4 with a 4.95 earned run average. In 60 innings pitched, he has struck out 42 batters and has only walked eight. Smith is 27th in nation in strikeout-to-walk ratio at 5.25.
